Academic Standards of Admission
The academic standard of admission to MWA requires prospective students to achieve MAP scores of growth achievement of +2 to +50 points in Reading, Math, and Language, from Fall to Winter and Winter to Spring.
MWA is non-discriminatory in admissions and practices. We recognize the value that student and staff diversity can bring to the program. No student will be refused admission on the grounds of race, gender, culture, creed or religious belief. All students admitted to the school will take part in the entirety of the school program - academic, sporting, social and cultural.
Student selection is based on the following criterion:
The available number of places in a particular class (given the maximum class size determined in accordance with the school’s commitment to providing a safe and productive education).
Whether the amount of support or special needs that a learner might require (based on the school’s assessment results) can be met.
Whether the parent/guardian is able to pay the fees (with or without financial assistance).
Whether the student can manage the medium of instruction (i.e. English language).
1. The “Application for Enrollment” form must be completed and returned to the MWA administrative office by July 15th. All existing examination and assessment results, school reports, transfer certificates, IEP and or 504 plans must be submitted with the application.
Each student will undergo a scholastic assessment be necessary, during the first two weeks of school in Math, English Language Arts and Science.
A full credit reference check is undertaken and the present school contacted (if appropriate) to determine course placement.
The application is screened for eligibility in terms of the criteria (above) by the Admittance Committee and all missing documents will be requested prior to student admission.
Upon admission, the student parent/guardian(s)will be asked to sign the Code of Conduct Agreement.
Where an application is unsuccessful the Admittance Committee will inform the parent(s)/guardian(s). Verbal reasons for student admission refusal will be given upon the request of the parent/guardian(s). The selection process is confidential, and parents undertake to accept the decision reached by Murl Windsor Academy.
